Commercial filming and photography

Kew is one of the UK's top filming locations, offering a wide range of natural scenic backdrops. Kew has been facilitating media activities for over 15 years and our Commercial Media department deals with all enquiries of a commercial nature.

What does Kew have to offer?

Kew has over 335 acres of open gardens and three major glasshouses displaying tropical, subtropical, arid and temperate landscapes.

The Palm House is one of the world's most notable surviving Victorian glass and iron structures. The Grade 1 listed building contains plants of great economic significance grown for their fruits, timbers, spices and medicines. The Arboretum has a world-class tree collection arranged by designers such as Lancelot ‘Capability’ Brown and William Nesfield. Kew also has a selection of flower borders showcasing the traditional English garden style.

Commercial media crews in the Gardens

Crews are supervised by a member of Kew staff at all times during the shoot. This is to ensure that the Gardens are used responsibly and that the crew has logistical support while on site.

The Gardens are large and moving around them takes time. Therefore, we suggest that you always come and do a recce in advance of your shoot. Even if you know the Gardens well, this will help your shoot run efficiently.

We ask all crews to be respectful of RBG Kew’s property and plant collection, and that all operations on site are carried out with consideration to the unique surroundings.

Who to contact, the Press Office or Commercial Media department?

Non-commercial filming that the Press Office considers beneficial to Kew is handled free of charge, or part-charged, depending on the nature of filming and how long the filming will take.

Contact the Press Office

All other media enquiries should come through the Commercial Media Department.
