Job Details
This is a great opportunity to join the South-East Asia team in the Herbarium, Library, Art and Archives (HLAA) department, delivering world-class scientific research and curation. The SE Asia team undertakes research in the flora of the Asian/Pacific region, with an emphasis on the island of New Guinea , and has an integral role in curating a large part of Kew 's Herbarium collection.
You will primarily work to deliver botanical research based in SE Asia , and regular field work opportunities in the region as part of this role are to be expected. In addition, you will undertake herbarium curation to ensure collections under the team's responsibility are maintained at the highest level. You will also work in collaboration with the other scientific teams within the Herbarium to support HLAA activity within our department and through out the organisation.
You will be educated to postgraduate degree level or equivalent and have an interest in biodiversity and conservation. You will have experience of undertaking research and able to work in a research environment and be able to work both independently and as part of team. In addition to you will be able to demonstrate skills to be actively involved in a range of projects run by the SE Asia team including plant identification, teaching, and fieldwork.

Essentials:
Educated to Postgraduate level (MSc or equivalent)
Experience in dealing with herbarium material
Some knowledge of tropical plant families and naming plant specimens
Fieldwork experience, especially in plant survey work
Good writing and presentation skills, including a publication record
