Kew is the world leader in plant diversity science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a major visitor attraction that shows the importance of plants in all our lives. Kew’s mission is to inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life.
Funded by a major grant from the Big Lottery Fund, Grow Wild is an ambitious mass-participation programme that aims to inspire people – especially disadvantaged young people – to do something positive for where they live by sowing UK native wild flowers. The programme aims to reach 30 million people and to get 3 million people to take direct action by 2017. As well as distributing seed-sowing kits to community groups across the country, Grow Wild will create four high-profile flagship sites and 280 smaller sites to showcase the transformations that can be achieved by local people. To achieve our goals, we need are creating a network of partner organisations, many of which are household names.
You will lead and manage a team of four Partnership Managers, providing strategic direction and taking overall responsibility for the key partnerships across the UK and for delivering the programme objectives. You will oversee the governance of the flagship and community sites, providing support to the Partnership Managers where necessary, and set up and manage key contracts with delivery partners.
An experienced project manager with significant people management skills, you will need to have a strong track record of successfully delivering inspirational and engaging experiences that motivate and maintain participation. Experience of managing budgets of £750K or more and of overseeing complex partnership networks will be essential, along with a background of working with a grant scheme and of delivering projects on time and on budget. An excellent communicator with an established network of industry contacts, you will have knowledge of a wide range of techniques for public engagement and experience of developing offline and online assets.
