To deliver RBG Kew’s mission by producing monthly management information, forecasts and budgets, and leading the management accounting team to support budget holders and Heads of Departments, Finance Director and Executive team in making excellent financial decisions.

The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew is a world famous scientific organisation, internationally respected for its outstanding living collection of plants and world-class herbarium as well as its scientific expertise in plant diversity, conservation and sustainable development in the UK and around the world.  Under the provisions of the National Heritage Act 1983, Kew is overseen by a Board of Trustees with general functions relating to: the science of plants - research and its dissemination and related to advice, instruction and education; providing services relating to plants (including quarantine); caring for, developing and allowing access to its collections, which are to be kept as national reference collections, and affording public access to grounds and collections.  Day to day management and direction is undertaken by the Director, RBG Kew, supported by the Executive Board, of which the Director of Corporate Services is a member.

The post reports to the Finance Director, who in turn reports to the Director of Corporate Services, enabling the Finance Director to focus on leading the development of a modern and efficient finance function in the knowledge that core information and projects are being satisfactorily managed and that accurate data is available. The post holder will be responsible for the operational delivery of their function and the achievement of business and corporate targets, and their advice and recommendations may have a direct impact on Kew’s performance. The post holder will also provide a key interface with Defra and Foundation.
