JOB DETAILS:

Kew is the world-leader in plant diversity science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a major visitor attraction, that shows the importance of plants in all our lives. Kew’s mission is to inspire and deliver science-based plant conservation worldwide, enhancing the quality of life. 

Based at the Millennium Seed Bank at Wakehurst Place, the work of the Conservation and Technology Section is key in the curatorial activities of the MSB Partnership. You will help RBG Kew to deliver its mission by carrying out cleaning, processing, banking, viability testing and distribution of seed collections held at the Millennium Seed Bank (MSB).

You will also input and check data on the Seed Bank Database, deliver training to partners and other visitors in support of the MSB Partnership technology transfer programme, provide technical support to partners for the curation of in-country collections and assist the Kew Innovation Unit consultancies and other income generation projects as required.

With experience of working constructively as part of a team and excellent written and oral communication skills, you will have the ability to plan and organise work against agreed targets. You will be adaptable and able to deal with changing priorities. Previous experience of working in a science laboratory environment in a support role would be an advantage but is not essential.

Salary is £17, 729 per annum depending on skills and experience and benefits include 30 days holiday per year, a choice of pensions, a flexible benefits scheme as well as a great working environment.
