JOB DETAILS:
The Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew (RBG Kew) is a world famous scientific organisation, internationally respected for its outstanding living collection of plants and Herbarium as well as its scientific expertise in plant diversity, conservation and sustainable development in the UK and around the world. It is also a major international visitor attraction, attracting nearly 2 million visitors a year, and one of the largest organisations of its type in the world. Kew Gardens was made a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2003 and celebrated its 250th anniversary in 2009.
In this role you will provide comprehensive support to the Herbaceous Team assisting with the care and maintenance of the botanical collections and horticultural features in the Order Beds, Wall Borders and Aquatic Garden areas of the Hardy Display section. Working in a team of Kew staff, students, trainees and volunteers, including interns and work experience students, you will support the team leader in leading, managing and training the team and handling their performance management. You will ensure collections are maintained to a high standard and horticultural maintenance and cultivation techniques are carried out as required. You will update and maintain plant records, give guided tours to official visitors and liaise with staff throughout the organisation.
You will have proven experience in working in horticulture, caring for a range of shrubs, herbaceous perennials, bulbs and aquatic plants. You will have experience of working in a team carrying out horticultural tasks. A wide working knowledge of horticulture including the following is essential:

Diverse plant knowledge including shrubs and herbaceous plants.

Knowledge of good plant husbandry

P&D control
