Are you an experienced Business Analyst seeking an exciting opportunity to work on a cutting edge project for a world leading scientific and cultural institution? If so, we could have the perfect position for you at the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew. Kew is the world-leader in plant diversity science, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and a major visitor attraction, that shows the importance of plants in all our lives.

An opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Senior Business Analyst to deliver a six month piece of work to assess the requirements for collections management at Kew and analysing the market for solutions to meet these requirements. Kew’s collections are unique, invaluable and diverse ranging from the living collection (the gardens), to the Herbarium (7 million dried specimens), to DNA, Mycology  (Fungi) and Economic Botany. The post holder will review requirements for the management of the collections and the available solutions for meeting these needs, analyse Kew’s existing ways of doing business, and use creativity and vision to guide the development of more effective and efficient approaches to collections management.

The post holder will work as part of the Science & Horticulture Systems (SHS) project team, a multi-disciplinary, highly skilled and knowledgeable team based in the IT Department.  The successful candidate will act as the main Business Analyst to the project and share skills and advice with colleagues in the team to help develop and implement more formal processes for business analysis.

Educated to degree level, or equivalent, in a scientific or technical discipline, you will hold a professional qualification in business analysis e.g. BCS or IIBA, or have equivalent work-based experience. Strong analytical skills and an aptitude for science are essential, along with first class problem solving and decision making skills and the ability to elicit, analyse and assimilate detailed business processes and requirements.
